Prime Global Does The Great Manchester 10K Run
On Sunday 28th May, 22 of our Manchester colleagues will be representing Prime Global in the Great Manchester 10K Run.
As The Beatles famously sang, “it was 20 years ago today…” Well, not quite, but 1997 did see the establishment of Prime Global, with just one employees. Now we have over 100 people across three continents and we’re still growing. To celebrate our anniversary, we’ve set ourselves another challenge as part of our on-going programme to give something back to charities close to our hearts.
We’ve been hosting fundraising activities every month, from cake bakes to boxercise, but this is our biggest challenge yet… On Sunday 28th May, 22 of our brave and bold colleagues will be representing Prime Global in the Great Manchester 10K Run, raising money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Joining Jack.
Estelle Smith, a Database Co-ordinator in our Knutsford office, is one of the runners and she nominated The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Estelle’s seen first-hand their amazing work when they helped her family. She also understands the value they place on developing treatments to improve the lives of all those who suffer with the disease. Estelle explains why it means so much to her to do this run:
‘My twin brother Drew was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 10 months old and the support provided by the Trust has been outstanding over the years. I always enjoyed a bit of light running but this challenge has spurned me on to run much further, and find enjoyment in running again. I am so privileged to be running for two great causes with the Prime Global team!’
Our second charity is Joining Jack, chosen by Onyx, a Prime Global agency who specialise in rare diseases. Joining Jack is raising money to support research into treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Around one in 3,500 boys worldwide is afflicted with DMD with 20,000 new cases reported every year. Andy Jobson, Scientific Director of Onyx, knows the impact DMD can have:
‘Although each rare disease affects relatively low numbers of people, collectively rare diseases could affect one out of 15 persons worldwide – 400 million people worldwide.. Supporting a charity such as Joining Jack helps support the research into more treatments for one of these rare diseases, DMD, and gives hope for the people affected with this devastating disease.’
